RO System Tank Level Controls Dual-Level Float Switch Assembly

Dual-Level Float Tree Assembly to Monitor Product Water Tank Level and Control RO System for Automatic Operation

AMI Dual Level Float Tree Assemblies are completely assembled with low-level and high-level floats and ready to install on an atmospheric product water RO tank for continuous monitoring of product water tank levels. When the tank is full, the tank-level high float will signal the water treatment system controller to shut down. When the water level drops, the tank-level-low float will signal the controller to start up and resume production until the tank is full again. The assembly is made from schedule 80 PVC components and includes a threaded bulkhead fitting for installation through a drilled hole in the tank wall. The pre-wired junction box has color-coded leads ready for connection to a the RO system controller - additional wiring (not included) will be required. The buffer between the two floats prevents cycling of the RO pump that can be caused by water surface turbulence as the tank is filling.

Commonly used in RO, UF, NF, MF, and SWRO commercial and industrial water treatment systems, AMI Dual-Level Float Switch assembly is compatible with any water treatment system with an atmospheric storage tank and equipped with ROC controls with tank level connections.

Dual-Level Float Switch Assembly Instruction for Use

  • Begin by disassembling the dual float tree from the bulkhead fitting as shown in the photo.
  • Drill a 1 ¼” hole in the side wall of the storage tank. (Skip this step if your storage tank already has a pre-drilled hole.)
  • Unthread the nut on the bulkhead fitting and insert the threaded stem through the hole with the rubber gasket remaining on the outside of the tank.
  • Hand-tighten the nut onto the threaded stem to make a water-tight seal.
  • Insert the wire leadss back through threaded stem and thread the float tree back into the original position.

  • Locate tank the “tank full high” and “tank full low” terminals on the controller circuit board (refer to the system or controller manual).
  • The wire with the red tape corresponding to the top float, which turns the RO off, gets connected to the “tank full high” terminal.
  • The wire with the green tape corresponds to the bottom float, which turns the RO on, gets connected to the “tank full low” terminal.
  • Note: these are dry contacts and they do not accept voltages such as 12-24VAC/DC, 120VAC. The 16AWG wires on the float switch do not conduct voltage.
  • The wire leads will need to be extended to reach the terminals inside the controller. It is recommended to keep the wires as short as possible. The longer the transmission of current, the heavier or thicker gauge, the wire must be to conduct the signal with the least amount of resistance. Please use a 10AWG or12AWG that are insulated per NEC code, found in any hardware store. There is no polarity so the color of the wire is not critical. Length, possible bends, and ambient
conditions are reasons for using a heavier gauge wire than that of the float switch.
