Ultrafiltration (UF) Membrane Elements

Ultrafiltration (UF)

Applied Membrane Inc. Ultrafiltration Membrane Elements

We stock UF membranes in both hollow fiber and spiral wound configurations, and in several ultrafiltration material types. All Applied Membranes Inc. UF membranes are industry-standard residential and commercial sizes for use in standard membrane housings suitable for multiple applications. Ultrafiltration membranes are superior to sand and traditional media filtration as this method of filtration restricts particles 0.02 to 0.05 microns, including bacteria, viruses, and colloids, meeting increasingly stringent water-quality standards around the world, and providing a stable, reliable, and consistent water quality.

Hollow Fiber Ultrafiltration Membrane and Spiral-Wound UF Membrane Elements

Our main goal at WaterAnywhere is to ensure your water is nothing less than the purest possible quality, which is why we only carry the highest quality ultrafiltration membrane elements from trusted manufacturers. The Applied Membranes Inc. UF membrane elements are one of the most trusted products in the water filtration industry.

Benefits of UF Membrane Elements

Ultrafiltration (UF) is a pressure-driven process of water filtration that forces water through a 0.02 to 0.05 micron membrane.UF membranes serve as a barrier to separate harmful bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants from clean water. Suspended particles that are too large to pass through the membrane stick to the outer membrane surface and only fresh, clean water and dissolved minerals pass through. Ultrafiltration offers high and consistent product quality measured by turbidity (NTU) or silt density index (SDI) compared to media filters.

Ultrafiltration offers several benefits and advantages including:

  • Low operating pressure
  • Lower energy consumption than nano-filtration or reverse osmosis
  • No use of pre-treatment chemicals (polymer, coagulant, pH adjustment) and associated costs for sludge disposal.
  • Small footprint and less weight than media filters.
  • Few manual actions required
  • Relatively affordable

Ultrafiltration is often used as a pre-treatment as it has excellent properties for removing suspended solids and bacteria and is suitable for various applications including water treatment in the food and beverage production industry, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and many more. There are multiple configurations and materials of UF membranes depending on the end-use application and filtration needs. At wateranywhere, we stock both polyethylene (PES) and polyacrylonitrile (PAN) ultrafiltration membranes in both hollow fiber and spiral-wound configurations.

Hollow Fiber Ultrafiltration (Hollow Fiber UF) Membrane Treatment Systems/Membranes

Our hollow fiber UF elements are ideal for use in small commercial, point-of-use and point-of-entry applications.

Applications for Hollow Fiber Ultrafiltration

  • RO Pretreatment
  • Point of Use (POU) Systems
  • Point of Entry (POE) Systems

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) Ultrafiltration Membranes (UF Membranes)

Polyacrylonitrile(PAN) spiral wound ultrafiltration (UF) membrane elements provide high performance and are ideal for oily wastewater and applications where tolerance to solvents and oils is required.

Applications for Polyacrylonitrile Ultrafiltration Membranes

  • Fuel oil/ water separations
  • Gray water
  • Black water
  • Paper/pulp wastewater treatment
  • Lignin and textile wastewater cleanup
  • Applications requiring tolerances to many solvents and oils
