VIQUA’s NSF 55 Class A Professional systems feature flow meter technology for accurate real-time UV dose measurement and reporting, together with a completely redesigned UV sensor for vastly improved reliability.
LightWise Lamp Dimming Technology: Dims the lamp under no flow conditions. Benefits include:
Ease of Maintenance: Up to 60% less maintenance
Reduced internal chamber temperature resulting in decreased sleeve fouling
Benefits of VIQUA UV Max PRO 30 Professional Commercial Ultraviolet Systems:
Chemical Free, Economical, and Energy Efficient. Addresses broader range of pathogens than chlorine. (Some protozoa like Cyrptosporidium and Giardia are resistant to chlorination.)
Ease of Maintenance: Use the diagnostic system display to troubleshoot, should a problem arise
High-performance amalgam UV lamp, reduces maintenance requirements by lasting up to 2 years replacement
Powerful/Space Saving: Revolutionary Amalgam lamp provides 4x the output of standard output lamps, giving you compact single-lamp systems that are half the size of their predecessors
Convenient: Features countdown timer with digital display and audible lamp change reminder for ease of maintenance
Cool-Touch fan technology helps reduce the temperature within the chamber to prevent overheating
Solenoid Valve – which will stop the flow of water through the chamber should the UV performance fall below a safe level
Application: Perfect for a wide range of large homes or light commercial applications including, small businesses, hospitals, dentist offices, etc.

About Viqua LightWise Technology
VIQUA’s new LightWise™ technology allows the system’s electronic controller to automatically reduce lamp power during periods of no water flow, reducing the rate of sleeve fouling by up to 60%, and providing estimated energy savings of 30% compared to standard PRO systems. By adjusting the lamp power, water temperature is maintained below 40˚C (104˚F), and the rate of sleeve fouling is consequently reduced by as much as 60%. This can more than double the amount of time between cleanings in the sleeve cleaning maintenance cycle.
Sleeve Fouling
In many situations, the most common problem affecting ultraviolet (UV) water disinfection is the fouling of the quartz sleeve which surrounds the UV lamp. The rate of sleeve fouling is influenced by water temperature, water flow, and water quality – specifically the concentrations of calcium, magnesium, and iron in the water, which are the most common constituents that lead to sleeve fouling. Under no-flow conditions through the UV chamber, the water temperature increases, which causes an accelerated rate of calcium, magnesium, and iron deposits precipitating onto the quartz sleeve. This decreases the level of UV transmittance and eventually requires the sleeve to be cleaned. While actual water usage may vary significantly in a 24-hour period, conditions of no water flow typically account for as much as 60% of the day. During this time, the UV lamp heats the water, resulting in water temperatures as high as 55˚C (131˚F) in the chamber and significantly increasing the rate of sleeve fouling.
Viqua's Solution
VIQUA’s new LightWise technology allows the controller to reduce lamp power during periods of no water flow, leading to estimated energy savings of 30%. By adjusting the lamp power, water temperature is maintained below 40˚C (104˚F), and the rate of sleeve fouling is consequently reduced by as much as 60%. This can more than double the amount of time between sleeve cleaning cycles.
Benefits of LightWise Technology in Ultraviolet Water Treatment
Lower maintenance (Up to 60% less maintenance)
Decrease conditions that contribute to fouling and corresponding maintenance
Increase time period between required maintenance
Eliminates the need for a complicated mechanical sleeve cleaning system
Lower energy consumption
Estimated energy savings of 30% (A typical two unit installation uses 1400 kW/yr)
Lower Operating Temperature
Water temperature is maintained below 40˚C (104˚F) in no-flow conditions
Eliminates the need for hot water purging in no-flow conditions
