Carbon & Sediment Filter Cartridges


One of the most effective cartridges used for filtering contaminants out of your water supply are carbon water filters. Carbon filter cartridges use activated carbon to effectively absorb chlorine, chloramine, VOCs, pesticides, and other common chemicals used in municipal water, while removing unpleasant tastes and odors from the water. Certain carbon filters are also designed to remove additional contaminants including sediment, lead, and cysts. There are different methods of carbon filtration, however there are three main types of filters:

  • Granulated activated carbon (GAC)
  • Carbon block filters
  • Radial flow GAC filters

Carbon water filters are often used as stand-alone water filtration solutions for improving the taste, clarity, and purity of potable water sources. They are also used as pre-treatment for reverse osmosis systems to remove the chlorine and chemicals from the water to protect the RO membrane from damage.
